There are many reasons why ice can build up inside your refrigerator. Ice buildup can also be a sign of a damaged package seal. As your commercial freezer ages, the seals will likely break, allowing warm air to enter and cold air to escape. Other causes include worn insulation or a malfunctioning evaporator coil.
Another common cause of ice buildup in walk-in freezers is warm, humid air. When this happens, the freezer is more prone to freezer burn, which can ruin frozen food and spoil its taste. This is why it is so important to avoid leaving the door open to restock or dispose of food.
