Last week, Thom Browne celebrated the opening of his San Francisco flagship store with a star-studded evening at Quince. The Jackson Square restaurant, helmed by chef Michael Tusk and known for its contemporary California cuisine, was the perfect venue to celebrate the brand’s newest West Coast outpost.
Much like Thom Browne’s designs themselves, attendees enjoyed a four-course dinner that was well-crafted and a bit subversive, served with well-oiled precision under a beautiful Murano chandelier. Tusk’s signature panna cotta with horseradish and chive opened the meal, setting the tone for a menu inspired by the landscape of West Marin county.

After dessert, Browne spoke to a room filled with friends of the brand. Precious Lee, writer and actor Ryan O’Connell, Logan Lerman, Olympian Eileen Gu, Black Adam star Quintessa Swindell, and Lauren Tsai looked on as the newly appointed chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America explained his love for San Francisco. “The architecture, the history, the innovation. It’s a strong, true American city,” he said before introducing Maggie Rogers.
Armed with just an acoustic guitar, Rogers played songs from her latest album, Surrender. Between songs, she spoke about Thom Browne’s approach to style, making note of Browne’s attention to detail. “It means you care about what you create,” she said as a smiling Browne looked on.

For her final song of the night, Rogers performed “Different Kind of World,” which begins “One last song, I’ll sing a song / And make it a song for peace / Though we all may carry on / May we do so decently.” It’s a tune Browne can surely relate to. “Meeting new friends, seeing old friends, finding the Thom Browne community in San Francisco is a privilege,” he said.
