How They Are Helping

Instead of letting all their food go to waste, which includes chicken, pork, produce and beef, Matador is donating their food to hospital workers who are on the front lines of the pandemic. Due to this effort, they have not only been able to retain some salaried employees, but they have also been able to deliver even more meals than the week prior.

2. The London Plane

How They Are Helping

On Wednesday, The London Plane began delivering lunch to hospital workers at the University of Washington Medical Center. The restaurant is hoping to send about 1,600 meals per day to hospital staff. With cost estimates of $10,000 per day for goods and labor, The London Plane began a GoFundMe campaign to request help from their community – with the effort already having raised over $70,000.

3. Herbfarm

How They Are Helping

The upscale restaurant, Herbfarm, located in Woodinville, is also taking action when it comes to donations. They are planning on delivering more than 1,000 meals per week to hospital workers, if they get proper funding. So far, they have delivered hundreds of meals to Overlake Medical Center, EvergreenHealth and Swedish Hospital.

4. Havana Café

How They Are Helping

Havana Café, which is located in Pasco, Washington, is passing out free meals and books (in both English and Spanish) to kids. These were donated from the Children’s Reading Foundation. They are also asking parents to bring children’s books for donation when they pick up a free kids’ lunch.

5. Hot Mess Burgers and Fries

How They Are Helping

Hot Mess Burgers and Fries in Richland, Washington plans to begin distributing free lunches to kids – although these plans are still in the works. That said, the restaurant announced via Facebook post that this plan will include free lunches for kids at least once a week.
