Police have released photos of a black SUV that they say was the getaway vehicle used in the killing of an Oakland restaurant owner back in May.

On May 18, Jun Anabo, owner of the much-loved Lucky Three Seven Filipino restaurant, was shot on Brookdale Avenue in Oakland, just outside of his restaurant. His son was apparently with him at the time of the shooting. When police arrived at the scene, they found Anabo suffering from gunshot wounds. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures and transported him to a nearby hospital, but he died from his injuries at the hospital.

Surveillance cameras caught the SUV believed to have been used by the shooter. Oakland police said the vehicle is a black 2009 Ford Escape with the California license plate 8ZTF474.

Lucky Three Seven is known for its chicken wings, dubbed “G-fire” wings, and traditional Filipino fare such as lumpia, silogs, adobo and palabak noodles. The restaurant closed temporarily after his death.

“We have entered a time of uncertainty,” said an Instagram post from Lucky Three Seven Filipino on May 19, 2022. “And although Jun would want us to keep it moving and keep it pushing… we find ourselves lost without him.”

The investigation is still ongoing, with no suspect identified in connection with the shooting as of yet.
