Called Epicurus, it is described as putting a spin on a traditional American diner with Middle Eastern flavours and inspirations throughout.

Founders Shiri Kraus and Amir Batito have worked at London restaurants including The Palomar and The Barbary and will serve a menu of US-style burgers, platters and sharing dishes with inspiration from across the globe.

Menu items will include poutine; a meat grill sharing platter with beef rib cap, confit pork belly, jalapeno and cheddar sausage, and lamb leg steak; a sloppy burek – a Middle Eastern take on a classic Sloppy Joe, with crispy burek pastry and harissa; and a beef short rib rack in a pomegranate molasses and date honey glaze.

Desserts will include Middle Eastern S’mores; pistachio crunch, rose ice cream and burnt meringue while the drinks menu will have alcoholic shakes made with Turkish ice cream, such as a baklava, honey and whisky shake; a tangerine, pistachio and gin shake; and a banana, melon, date and rum shake.

“We are thrilled to be opening a new restaurant in Camden after the roaring success of The Black Cow,” says Batito.

“We absolutely love the area and feel that we can really offer something new and unique to locals with Epicurus. Lots of time and care has gone into creating the menu, which seriously delivers on taste.”

The restaurant takes its name from the Greek Philosopher and author of the ethical philosophy of simple pleasures and friendship and will open in Camden Market’s North Yard on 26 April.
