Launching under its Le Petit Beefbar brand, which has outposts in London’s Chelsea and Dubai, the restaurant will open in partnership with InterContinental Edinburgh The George and be housed within the hotel’s grand dining room.
Beefbar was founded in Monaco in 2005 by restaurateur Riccardo Giraudi, who developed the business in an attempt to break away from what he thought were the classic and stiff codes of the steakhouse.
The group’s restaurants are typified by their bright and luxurious interiors that don’t follow traditional steakhouse design cues and feature street food dishes alongside steaks.
“This opening is very special to me as it marks our first venture into Scotland and gives us the opportunity to highlight the bountiful produce the country has to offer,” says Giraudi.
“Edinburgh is such a beautiful and vibrant city, and the InterContinental Edinburgh The George is at its heart, so we’re thrilled to be opening up in the hotel’s beautiful restaurant space, giving it a Le Petit Beefbar makeover whilst still retaining the incredible Georgian architecture from the 18th century.”
Open from breakfast to dinner, Le Petit Beefbar Edinburgh will be overseen by executive chef Matthew Parker, who has worked with the group executive chef Thierry Paludetto and Giraudi on the menu.
New dishes set to feature include a sharing plate of Kobe beef jamón; and a croque sando filled with dry-aged beef rib-eye prosciutto and mozzarella and served with Le Petit Beefbar’s house sauce.
The drinks menu has been developed by general manager Jean Francois Greyer and will include a list of global wines alongside a cocktail menu with ‘signature’ serves including the San Sebastian with Havana Club three-year-old rum, crème de banane, lemon juice, passion fruit and cinnamon syrup; and the Mon Amie with Maker’s Mark 46 bourbon, crème de cacao brown and maraschino cherry syrup.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Le Petit Beefbar to InterContinental Edinburgh The George,” says Michael Martin, general manager at the InterContinental Edinburgh The George.
“Beefbar and InterContinental are both recognized and international brands, with quality at their hearts, so it is a natural fit to welcome Le Petit Beefbar into the space, a cosmopolitan destination for guests to the city and locals alike.”
