A popular family restaurant in Redcliffe has been forced to close its doors after nearly 46 years.
The Golden Ox, which was once considered one of southeast Queensland’s top restaurants and wedding venues, has shut after one of the owners passed away.
“Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we have had to shut our doors for now. Stay tuned, and hopefully we will be back again soon!” the restaurant posted to social media.

“Guys, sadly one of the owners has passed away. So for the meantime, we have had no choice but to close.”
The venue said it would be in contact with anyone with weddings booked and added they are “terribly sorry”.
“We would like to advise that all who have booked and paid deposits for functions will be contacted as soon as possible,” they said.
Locals were heartbroken by the news of the restaurants’ closure, with many sharing their memories of the venue.
“This is so sad, it was a beautiful restaurant and iconic in the area…” one person said.
“Hopefully not for too long, I love the Ox, fantastic food and service,” another said.
